Lemlist is the best multichannel sequencer for small high-touch teams, and the wrong tool for high-volume email. An honest look at both sides.

Lemlist is a good product that is frequently bought for the wrong reason. Its multichannel sequencing is excellent and difficult to match; its pricing model is built around a specific shape of team. When those two things line up with how you actually sell, it is the best tool in its category. When they do not, it is an expensive way to send email.

What it does better than anyone

Multichannel orchestration is the reason to buy Lemlist. Running email and LinkedIn touches inside one sequence, with conditional branching so a LinkedIn accept changes what happens next in email, is genuinely hard to build and Lemlist has built it well. Most competitors either bolt LinkedIn on awkwardly or omit it. If your sales motion actually spans channels, this capability is the product.

The deliverability tooling is included. Warm-up and placement features come with the plan rather than as a paid module. That compares favourably with tools where pre-send testing is a separate subscription, and it is a fair point in Lemlist's favour.

The product is well made. The interface is clear, sequence building is intuitive, and reporting is legible. That sounds like faint praise but it is not: a tool your team will actually use correctly is worth more than a more capable tool they misconfigure.

The pricing model, and who it fits

Lemlist charges per user per month. Email Pro is around $63 per user annually or $79 monthly; Multichannel Expert, the tier most teams want, is around $87 annually or $109 monthly. Add-ons for LinkedIn and SMS steps, lead credits, and extra mailbox capacity are also per user.

For a team of four reps running high-touch outreach into a few hundred well-researched accounts each, this is a defensible model. You are paying for skilled people doing relationship work, and the cost tracks the thing generating the value. Per-seat pricing is honest in that setting.

The mismatch arrives when your variable is volume. Two people mailing fifty thousand prospects a month pay for two seats plus the mailbox capacity that volume requires, and mailbox capacity is where per-seat pricing is least generous, at roughly $36 to $72 per user per month.

That produces a genuinely awkward incentive. Safe sending means spreading modest volume across many warmed mailboxes. The personalization trade-off

Lemlist's custom images and dynamic landing pages are its most visible differentiator, and they carry a real cost that is rarely discussed alongside the demo.

A personalized image is a remote asset loaded from a third-party host. It lowers your text-to-image ratio, adds HTML weight, and gives your message the structural signature of marketing mail rather than a personal note. The feature is not a mistake. In a warm sequence, or a later step where the recipient already recognises you, the novelty can work. The structural limits

Like every sequencer built on connected mailboxes, Lemlist inherits the constraints of the accounts underneath it. OAuth grants expire when workspace policy changes. Microsoft app passwords are invalidated by security-default updates. Per-provider velocity caps apply regardless of what the tool would like to send. None of this is Lemlist-specific and none of it is fixable from inside the product.

Reputation is also shared by default, meaning part of your placement is decided by other senders on the same infrastructure. That is the standard arrangement for this category, and it is the thing dedicated sending exists to solve.

Where a different model fits better

If your bottleneck is volume and placement rather than multichannel choreography, the alternative is to pay per message and own the sending layer.
